How to check your iDrive version
- One large curved screen across the dashboard: iDrive 8 / 8.5.
- 2019 or newer car with “Live Cockpit” and a 8.8″ or 10.25″ screen: iDrive 7 (MGU).
- Menu made of tiles you scroll sideways: iDrive 6 (NBTevo).
- Go to Navigation > Options > Settings > Position & Version. A version that starts with “NBTEVO_” means NBTevo.
What you need
- A BMW ENET cable (OBD2 to Ethernet). Some NBTevo activations work by USB instead.
- A Windows laptop, or a Mac running Windows (Parallels or Boot Camp)
- A stable internet connection

Does it work in my country?
Yes. Activations work in all regions, including countries where ConnectedDrive is blocked.
Do I need to buy any parts?
No. It’s a software activation on your existing screen. You only need the cable and laptop listed above.
What if it doesn’t work on my car?
